I was inspired to find a way to heal myself and others in my late 20’s after giving birth to my daughter.  My lower back was giving me trouble post pregnancy due to a injury involving my lumbar spine after a skiing accident when I was 13 years old.  After different doctors and types of medicine didn't work, I knew I had to find a way to relieve my own pain.  To do that, I registered for a massage therapy class at the Connecticut Center for Massage Therapy in Newington, CT.

I was able to heal my own pain, and then spent ten years providing clinical massage in spas and on my own, all while working a full time job.  In April 2018 I decided to leave my full time desk job and subcontract in a chiropractic office while working on starting my own business.  I came up with the name BodySculpt after working on a client one day and thinking how I feel like I am actually sculpting one’s muscles back to a healthy state while helping improve their posture and range of motion.

In July 2018 I received an offer from a business owner to begin my business by renting space within SimsburyTown Shops.  I agreed, moved to Tarrifville with my daughter.  I'm opening the clinic in February, 2019.

My successes.

I am often able to find the answers to unexplained pain through my knowledge and skill of clinical massage.  The work I do diminishes and, in most cases, dissolves pain.  This is why I am pleased to offer a source of drug free pain management for those in need.

I expect to hire another therapist in 2019.

How SCORE helped.

My SCORE mentors have been a huge support to me as a new business owner.  I began using their services in September and have been meeting with them twice a month ever since. They believed in my business throughout all of my frustrations and they challenged me (and continue to do so) to do even better than I thought I could.    I could not feel more blessed than to have the guidance and support from my SCORE mentors.  I look forward to a long mentoring relationship with all three of them as they each bring something meaningful and educational to the table with each meeting that we have.

What's great about my mentor?

They have helped me foresee and work through accountabilities that I otherwise did not think were necessary but proved to be.
